ABOUT OUR CAPTAIN

Max Lewis a.k.a. CAPNMAX started Funk-It Records in late 2011 as a way to make the music of artists he truly believed in available to the world. After attending McNally Smith College of Music for Music Production and Guitar Performance, he packed up all the gear that would fit in his car and headed for Chicago to complete a three month internship at Groovemaster Recording. His time at Groovemaster Recording, owned by Grammy winning producer Johnny K (Disturbed, Megadeth, Finger Eleven, Three Doors Down, Staind, etc.), gained him a wealth of knowledge and incredible experiences, including hearing the new Megadeth album being mixed and singing several parts on Bang Tango's "Pistol Whipped in the Bible Belt" (not to mention housing the lead singer in his apartment for almost the entire duration of the making of the album). Needless to say, when he returned from the epic internship, he had all the confidence and know-how he needed to start his own company.

One of the core motivations of Funk-It Records and its subsidiaries is to pave the way towards a better, more loving music industry. We strongly believe in retaining a dynamic that results in mutual benefits; when one part of Funk-It gains success, everyone involved reaps the rewards.

THINK OF THE STRUGGLES OF THE TRUE ARTIST...TO SURVIVE IN TODAY'S INDUSTRY REQUIRES A PART OF ONESELF TO BE SNUFFED OUT BY THE WILL TO CONTINUE CONSUMING THAT WHICH THE ARTIST CRAVES. THE NAME OF THE GAME IS NO LONGER CREATE. IT'S WATCH YOUR BACK OR DIE. HAS MUSIC TRULY BECOME SUCH A DUPLICITOUS IDEA THAT THOSE WHO CRAVE BEAUTY ARE DRIVEN TO BECOME THE UGLY, THE DIRTY? BUT IF WE ARE TO RISE ABOVE THE ASHES OF OUR SO CALLED "INDUSTRY", WE CANNOT PREVAIL AS INDIVIDUALS. WE MUST EACH TAKE TIME TO TRULY CONSIDER THE VALUE OF MUSIC. WE MUST BELIEVE IN THE UNITING POWER OF MUSIC. MUSIC IS NOT ABOUT FIGHTING OVER SHOWS, OR WHO GETS WHAT SLOT, OR IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO EAT TONIGHT. IT'S ABOUT THE HIGHEST HIGH OF ALL HIGHS...POURING YOUR SOUL THROUGH YOUR BODY AND FEELING IT TURN INTO SWEET, SWEET MUSIC.

SO LET'S STOP THE BACKSTABBING AND, STICK THE FUCK TOGETHER! FELLOW MUSICIANS AND MUSIC INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS ARE YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN ARMS. WE HAVE A WAR ON OUR HANDS, AND ARMY THAT FIGHTS AMONGST ITSELF HAS NO HOPE OF BESTING THE TERRIBLE ADVERSARIES WE MUST FACE ON THE ROAD TO SALVATION. SO PROVE YOUR LOVE FOR YOUR PASSION AND YOUR FAITH IN A BETTER WORLD , AND RALLY YOURSELVES! THE GOOD SHIP FUNK IT HAS RAISED ITS COLORS! THE BRAVE CREW ARE READY TO SET SAIL TO THE NEW WORLD...AS SOON THE GREAT VESSEL'S MOST PRECIOUS CARGO ARRIVES - THE RIGHTEOUS PASSENGERS.
